🍊 Caramelized Orange Simple Syrup

Ingredients

  • 1 cup organic cane sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 large orange, thinly sliced into wheels
  • Pinch of sea salt

Instructions

  1. Add ¼ cup sugar to a skillet in an even layer
  2. Heat over medium until melted and amber in color (watch closely)
  3. Add orange slices directly into the caramel (they will sizzle)
  4. Add remaining sugar and water (mixture may seize — this is normal)
  5. Stir gently over low heat until dissolved
  6. Simmer for 5–7 minutes
  7. Remove from heat, add a pinch of salt, and let cool completely
  8. Strain, pressing orange slices for maximum flavor extraction
  9. Refrigerate (keeps up to 2 weeks)
