🍊 Caramelized Orange Simple Syrup
Ingredients
- 1 cup organic cane sugar
- 1 cup water
- 1 large orange, thinly sliced into wheels
- Pinch of sea salt
Instructions
- Add ¼ cup sugar to a skillet in an even layer
- Heat over medium until melted and amber in color (watch closely)
- Add orange slices directly into the caramel (they will sizzle)
- Add remaining sugar and water (mixture may seize — this is normal)
- Stir gently over low heat until dissolved
- Simmer for 5–7 minutes
- Remove from heat, add a pinch of salt, and let cool completely
- Strain, pressing orange slices for maximum flavor extraction
- Refrigerate (keeps up to 2 weeks)
